This is my very first Mechanical Owl. I made it as a request, as many people were asking me to attempt one. I don't get to experiment with new designs as much as I would like to, but I wanted to make time for this little fella. I try to make time as often as I can for new and interesting things! I don't want you guys to get bored. Hehe.
After many folks started suggesting names for this little guy, we settled on "Archimedes" - named after the Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor, and astronomer. It suits him!
He is all sorts of metallic colours, actually. There are coppers and brass, mostly... but also a tiny bit of mauve and green, as well. I gave him a little copper accent on top of his head.
Although this creature looks to be made from metal, he is not - he is completely handsculpted from polymer clay with the addition of a few metal findings and wire legs. This piece has been glazed with a satin finish for a slight sheen and durability.
