Atlantic - Backby *monsterkookies

Artisan Crafts / Jewelry

This is the 99th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Atlantic.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.

This piece was especially fun to create because I got to play with lovely metallic curls. I just got a new batch of blue LED's which are getting increasingly hard to find (ones that actually have a blue lens as opposed to just a clear lens and a blue diode) so I got to use one on this - they really are quite vibrant!

It was inspired by the new owner of this heart, as their favourite song is "Atlantic" by Thrice and they have an immense love for blue, the ocean, and waves. I thought that naming this heart after their favourite song was very suiting.

Completely hand sculpted from polymer clay with various additional findings.
