This is the 90th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Bio-Mechanism.
Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.
The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.
This particular heart is actually the second man vs. machine heart I have made, although the two are very different from eachother. These bio-mechanical hearts take a lot more time and patience because I have to keep that bright red hue of the human heart away from the mica powder and silver hue of the machine heart - when they mingle, it isn't so pretty... you get a sparkley silvery reddish human heart.
It was made special for a ladies partner, whose name happens to start with D as you can see engraved into the heart. I think this is one of my favourites, so far... but I just love the fusion of man and machine.
