This is the 123rd piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Carnival. It is one of a few Industrial Hearts that have been created in a very large size.
Each of my Industrial Hearts starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.
The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.
This particular heart has particular details taken from past designs, but is quite unique in itself. It has aqua and lavender details that reminded me a lot of carnival rides, and that inspired its name. This heart is more than double the size of my other Industrial Hearts, which are usually worn as necklaces. This heart will become part of a fellow artists sculpture. I will make sure to share photos of this sculpture when she completes it!
