Choco-Strawberry Sweetheart by monsterkookies Choco-Strawberry Sweetheart by monsterkookies
For those of us who just can't choose between the heavenly strawberry and sinful chocolate.

Although many of my creations may be a tad bit strange to some, I really do enjoy to embrace the sweet and cutesy side once in awhile - and cakes are my favourite ways to express that!

I call this Chocolate-Strawberry Sweetheart Cake!

This delightful looking cake is made from polymer clay, and features two layers of a moist and decadent chocolate cake slathered with a sweet and fluffy pink strawberry frosting. A little pink border has been carefully piped on the outer edge, and the outer-side has been rolled with dark chocolate sprinkles. On the top sits a big dollup of fresh whipped cream and a lovely slice of strawberry (which are ALSO made from canes by me).

The strawberry frosting has a lovely subtle scent that smells like real strawberries! It is small enough to stand on the end of my finger! It is about 3/4" high WITH the strawberry perked up!

On Sale NOW in my Etsy Shop! Get it before it sells!

Where do you buy your TLC, If I am correct in thinking that's what you used to make the icing?

Very adorable. <3

Hehe, you mean TLS? Well. You can buy it from the same places that sell polymer clay, or you can buy it online at theclaystore.com :)

Oopsie, Yes I meant TLS. c: Ohh, I will try to look around more at Michael's. I don't think I had enough time to look the last time I was there, I'll have to look more closely.

Hehe, I'm just a few hours away! C: I'm in Ottawa, and I've become very interested in that little store you were talking about where you get your pieces for your industrial hearts. I should be going to Toronto sometime this summer so I may get the time to check some places out, but I'm mostly interested in china town. XD Haha!

Zomg caek

(misspelling intended)

So, well...this cake is a lie. Because it's made with clay, not flour.

(check out portal to get what I mean)

Seriously, how did you get that cakey texture? It looks like those comercial plastic stuff, not a handcrafted clay thing D:

Hehehe, awwwww thankies!

The cakey texture is basically taking a sharp object and stirring and swirling the sharp end into the clay until you get the desired effect! :D

Looks delicous but did you accidentially (or maybe intentionally?) use glow in the dark super neon red for the strawberries? OR is that some photo editing color mishap? 'Cause they srsly look radioactive.

You know it is very odd... on MY computer they look fine, but when I sometimes edit them just to brighten them if the photo was dark, I get a DIFFERENT colour if I go to a different computer screen. I am working on a laptop, hehe. So my colours don't seem as true as the ones everyone sees on their computer monitors :D

But I DID use translucent clay and Red Hot Red Clay for the strawberries. :D

That red hot clay color is pretty bright, honestly don't think I've used it myself just because of that. I'd rather brighten up a darker clay.

Also, for the sprinkles did you use actual chocolate sprinkles or roll out a thing snake of clay and cut them yourself? I wonder because when I look at sprinkles it seems like they would be too big for mini polymer clay cakes, but yours look ok.

Hehe, mine are made from polymer clay, yes! I just roll out a snake like you said, bake it, than cut it. It makes cuting a lot easier when you cut while it is still warm from baking. ;)

Yeah, I notice that right out of the oven that everything is still soft. I actually got frustrated a ripped up a piece once because it was a new oven and gas (I'd only used electric before) that I thought it messed up the clay and made it smushy. Come to find out it was just because it was warm. I felt silly.
