Artist's Comments
This is the 20th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled: "Dark Cell"
The entirety is made from polymer clay with every component that makes the human heart work. Except this human heart is made of steel, and has lots and lots of panel and rivet detail. The colour reminds me of wrought iron or magnetite of some sort. It is quite dark compared to my "stainless steel" look I usually get. But this customer wanted it dark and full of many holes and golden gears. The body of the heart has many missing panels - eight of them to be exact. They are black inside, and contain lonely golden gears, none of which serve any purpose at all but to be disfunctional. It deeply reminds me of a prison block. Rows upon rows of cells... dank, dark, and gloomy. The golden gears are the lone faces that stare out with blank eyes... So that's why I called it Dark Cell.
