Earth + Water

This is the 111th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Earth & Water.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.

A young man named Rahul got in contact with me and asked me to create a heart that would be for his girlfriend, Sumera. He gave me various things to go by when it came to the design, but I chose to do a fusion of their elements - Earth and Water.

Half of the heart is covered in lovely blue waves and swirls, with a silver gear containing a blue jewel-like LED. On the Earth part of the heart, there is a green jewel-like LED surrounded by entangling golden vines with antiqued gold leaves. Both elements intertwine with eachother.

Posting this heart shall be a surprise to Sumera, as she is also here on DA. Sumera - I really hope you like your heart!
