Fun With Rust

I've been playing with some new techniques, such as this rust look. What do you think? It's REAL rust - not faux.

You basically get this look by painting the clay with this liquid that contains iron shavings. When you let that dry, you apply multiple layers of Ammonium Chloride & Copper Sulphate over a series of days. Every day it gets a little rustier. It's really neat! If you want more rust, you add more layers.

This was a heart that I sort of messed up on. It's a lovely heart, but it was supposed to be one of my Winged Antique Brass Hearts with a chain dangling from it. I ended up forgetting about putting on the hole where the chain hangs from. So it's just an Antique Brass Heart with a wing and no chain.

The thing is, this is REAL rust... so if you were to wear white with it, you could get rust stains on your shirt if it were to get wet. And if I add a glaze overtop, it'll change the look of the rust. So I may get some spray on glaze and just mist it to keep the rusty and rugged effect.
