Future Passed - Back

Description

This is the 32nd piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Future Passed.

It is named so for the fact that it looks as though it excedes our intepretation of the future, therefore passing the future, but it is also a play on words - passed, also pronounced the same way as "past" - it has pieces of the pass incorporated into the design. It has a touch of Victorian/Edwardian flair.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets.

The owner of this heart has only asked for a few things, and that is the use of many gears, a brass locket, and some chain. They wanted it to look somewhat old, and did not want any wiring.

This heart does have a bit of a futuristic feel to it, however it has been brought back into the past with the use of some decorative victorian texturing and curls. There is quite a bit of patching, large rivets, assorted gears, fine antique chain, ballchain, a locket housing gears, metal straps, and all sorts of other fine detailing.

The entire thing has a worn steel look, but some details have been picked out with a metallic brass colour. The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.
