Description

This is the 28th piece in my Industrial Heart Collection, entitled: "Hex"

The entire body of the heart is polymer clay that has all of the components of the anatomical human heart, but has made with the look of metal, with paneling and rivet detailing.

This piece was made for =kamikazekayti here on DeviantArt. Although this piece has a metal-looking base like all of my Industrial Hearts, I wanted to put emphasis on the theme, which was slightly voodoo.

She asked for pink and green patches instead of gold and stitched instead of riveted. She asked for a compartment with a candle or shrine of some sort, as well as a few pins.

On this heart is a compartment that holds a red candle that is dripping with wax and creating a glow in the black background. Around the compartment is some voodoo inspired veve symbols painted with a fine brush in white. Throughout the design is pink and green stiched patches, a small amount of texturing, and five pins poking into the heart.

I plan on making a black heart covered in voodoo symbols/veves and pins sometime in the future, as I absolutely the simplistic beauty of these symbols. The linework is amazing.

I love this! the candle shrine is such a beautiful metaphor. I don't know if you intended such but I like that. also, the metal vs voodoo idea is interesting, the way the needles protrude into the metal is very cool. is there a symbolic meaning to the five pins?
wonderful! thank you for sharing!
