Manufacturing Flora

This is the 129th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Manufactured Flora.



Each of my Industrial Hearts starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.

In addition to the industrial aspects of this heart is the natural and organic aspects of leaves and vines, which is ballchain wrapped in fine copper wire. It reminds me a lot of nature overtaking old abandoned buildings...
