This is the 36th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, New Direction.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets.

This piece is inspired by the fact that the requester of this heart is starting a new chapter of her life - leaving her country and her home. The compass is to help her with her direction, and the red heart in the front symbolizes that the love for her old home will always be there for her.

The front is rather similar to the Tin Mans Heart, as she really admired it's design - but it is altered. The entire thing is covered in gears, watch parts, and other metal findings.

The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.
