These are the 38th pieces in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Opposite Reflection
Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets.
This is actually the second set of *couple hearts* I have done. The first couple set of hearts I did was called Tuned Into You - two hearts that plugged into eachother. They must have brought much luck and love, because after the customer received those two hearts and gave one to her boyfriend, he proposed to her a short time after - she graciously accepted, of course!
The couple in which these hearts are for would be described as the same yet different. The lady of the relationship says that they share many things in common, yet they are opposite at the same time. So I decided to create a "same yet different" heart in which the second heart was a complete mirror image of the first heart, except the second heart has a more dark-titanium hue to it.
Many of the components she wished to have incorporated into the design are there. There are gears on the front and back, as well as a tiny "watch ruby" on the front of each heart. On the sides are a small electronic component to look like a small battery and a coil on the other side. On the back is more gears with stitches, as well.
The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.Industrial Heart Information
