This is the 24th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled: "Simulated Heartbeat"

The entire body of the heart is polymer clay that has all of the components of the anatomical human heart, but has made with the look of metal, with paneling and rivet detailing.

The lady asking for this heart wanted it to contain some sort of medical centerpiece, and I decided, hell... what's more medical than a stethoscope?

You have a clear view of the stethoscope in the back. The wires with the ear plugs set inside of the arteries - I thought that these two artery openings made very good "ear canals". Haha! It's a self-sufficient heart - it keeps track of it's own simulated mechanical heartbeat! Any irregularities in heartbeat are reported to the brain. Hahah!

So you have the wires, ear plugs, and than the two pieces of vinyl joining into one piece of vinyl tubing, where it travels around the side and to the front of the heart. On the front of the heart is the sensor for the stethoscope. The sensor is completely industrial - made from the gears and casing gear from watch parts, with a peg holding it down in the middle. I really love how it turned out.

In the back is a microphone. It actually is a microphone part. Signifying that intercom and PA system you always hear in doctors offices and hospitals. It also has a red emergency light in the back. There is also another electronic component on the side.

I'm starting to feel lots better. Between all I can do with that fabric, school getting done soon for me and my rainbow trades that I'm doing I'm keeping myself busy. Unfortunately I'm having an allergy attack today which is making it feel like my left eye has to sneeze but I shall perservere. :D I also got a signed copy of Angie Scarr's new book today so I can make loads of cool new stuff. I also might be headed up to Toronto next weekend to see my friends band play. How have you been feeling lately sweetie?

I'm glad you are starting to feel a bit better. Sometimes keeping busy is a great way to solve the downers. What are you allergic too? I've been hearing a lot about people sneezing, today! You're a lucky duck to have that book - I would love to check out her books, sometime!

So you're coming to Toronto, eh? Where is your friends band playing?

I've been feeling alright, I suppose. I've been irritated by the fact that I seem to have a constant headache. Blaaaaah! But besides that, I'm alright!

I think I'm allergic to the maple trees because thier buds are all falling out of the trees right now. I'll be happy when they get their leaves.

I know what you mean about the constant headaches my head has been bugging me for months now with this stupid headache but I think mine is because I need new glasses but I never remember about making an appointment until the middle of the night lol.

My friends are playing at a place called the Sound Factory on Polson St. I've never been there before.

If you want when I come up I can bring my Angie Scarr books and we can get together somewhere and you can have a look at them. I have both of them. I also have another really cool book that's all in Japanese lol. The concert is on Friday but we'll probably be going up a little before it and possibly staying for a few days afterwards I'm not sure yet.
