Solar Flare - Back

This is the 87th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Solar Flare.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.

I love this heart a lot, namely because the person I made it for gave me complete free choice on what to make. She had absolutely no preferences, so I decided to give her one of my favourite gears that I had been saving for something special.

It's a rare gear, and the gear guru I got it from has no idea what type of watch it is from! She only sees them once in awhile. It reminded us of a bursting sun - it has so many golden yellow teeth on it, and all in different lengths. It was the perfect focal point!
