Artist's Comments
This is the 46th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Technicolour.
Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added. For quite some time, I have been wanting to skip the gears and findings, and really put the emphasis on the panels. So I did a multicolour paneled heart with a heart on the front that has been textured with an old Victorian broach. Than I decided to add a little chain with a heart and a tiny little starburst gear in the back. This piece is for Porgey Pie, because it is colourful like her! I hope she likes it. The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.
