Tentacle Bog Monster Cupcake by monsterkookies Tentacle Bog Monster Cupcake by monsterkookies
Another Polymer Clay creation by MonsterKookies.com!

A cuppycake full of tentacle-y goodness. Good for vitamin A, although probably very high in polymer so it may not be so good for you...

It's got a black base. Chocolate cupcake with bog sludge icing and three creepy little bog monster tentacles wriggling their way from the bubbles!

Mmmmm.... my kind of cuppycake!
A contest submission :D

WOW! That looks SO awesome, you're extremely good at this o,o
VERY well created, and it has a lovely glossy finish too...may I ask what varnish you're using? Im never satisfied with the results of my varnish...

I know, I used to use Fimo Gloss, but it was gloopy and gross. And it is so expensive! But you know what? Go out and buy one of those 1 litre tins of Varathane Gloss. It is only 15$ for ONE WHOLE LITRE (It will last forever!)

Atleast... I thought my tin would last forever, but I left it on the edge of the table, it fell off right onto the carpet. Now there is a big section on the carpet that is hard and crunchy. Although, it makes a good foot scratcher... haha!

But yes. Dip your creations into the varnish with a piece of wire, hang it up, take a brush to your clay once in awhile to get rid of the drips that formulate, otherwise you will have hardened drips on your clay. Do this about 3 times and you have a nice thick and hard layer of clear gloss to protect your clay forever!

Thanks for the great answer! I'm always worried to ask artists about their techniques or materials cos some seem to take offence ^^'

At the moment I use Polurathane varnish... it's the sort they use on boats actually xD It's really thick and gloopy as you said and I hate it, but I found it in our garage and just went with it.. I'll ask my dad if we've got any Varathane Gloss! I've never seen any, but I'll look :D

Thanks again :)

It's really easy to find. Look in the paint section of your local hardware store. :) It's actually for wood, but it works so well for polymer.
