We All Start Somewhere

It's true. We all start somewhere.

This was the beginning for Monster Kookies. And this was my practice bucket. It stands 6 inches high and about 5 inches in diameter. It is completely full of all the stuff I ever did before I surfaced on Deviant Art.

When I saw all the beautiful polymer clay pieces on this website, I didn't want to show my face until I was actually content with my work. So I practiced and practiced and practiced.

Everytime I made something, I would figure out what I did wrong and try to correct it in the next piece. So some of these pieces are better, and some are worse. Some are just crap! Haha!

But I just wanted to encourage all of you polymer clay enthusiasts out there, that we all start somewhere, and you will not get better unless you practice! None of us are experts in the beginning, but we strive for our goals and that is what gets us to be better.

When I started, there wasn't much information on polymer clay tutorials, so a lot of it was trial and error. There are SO many tutorials here on Deviant Art, now, to get people started and to give you direction. So use them to your advantage.

Just look up "polymer clay tutorial" in the search box on the DA front page.

Another great place to check out is the Glass Attic (glassattic.com), which is an online polymer clay encyclopedia written by a friendly lady named Diane B. She's a great lady, and you can find her a lot hunting the Polymer Clay pages of Craftster (craftster.org) so check it out!
