Weighted Companion Heartby *monsterkookies

Artisan Crafts / Jewelry / Necklaces & Pendants

This is the 112th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Weighted Companion Heart.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.

This particular heart was very inspired by the Weighted Companion Cube in the videogame, Portal. This is my own rendition - sort of an Industrial take on the cube. It's got a bright metallic pink heart as the focal point in the front!

I actually made this heart last year for FanExpo. Daniel Proulx of *CatherinetteRings came over to my booth and bought it for his lady. So they own the original. But I forgot to take pictures before it sold, so I re-made it recently.

Beautiful, I'm making a little companion cube keychain for a friend for Christmas. I'm definitely not experienced with anything clay-related, but seeing the amount of detail you can put into such a great piece gives me hope!
