So here's the important question: WHY AREN'T YOU GETTING TOGETHER WITH YOUR BUDDIES AND RIOTING IN THE STREETS?!?!?! BURN DOWN THE CEOS' HOUSES DAMMIT!
Hehehe, there was a big protest in Toronto and Vancouver, but no riots. BUT because of all the signatures and such, they are being forced to rethink their decision.
I think rogers implemented it a while back? Or is this something different? It's ridiculous. We only had 25 gigs for the whole month to split between my brother and me. They billed us an extra 2.50 per gig that we went over (on top of the $40 a month we already payed). Oh, and uploading goes toward the gig count. So we only really had 12.5 gigs since every time you view a web page, your computer is uploading stuff. The thing is, I stopped going on youtube, full-viewing DA art, etc and we effing still went over. When our family went on a trip to Montreal (aka our internet at home was not being used at all) when I checked our usage it was like 0.3 gigs a day that we were gone! What a sham! We had to "up" our package and now we're paying like 60 a month? It's absolutely ridiculous. So is this "usage based billing" what I'm talking about? Or am I understanding this wrong? XD
YES. That would be considered usage billing. I can't believe you were somehow still using 0.3 gigs while you were gone, though, that's messed up! >_<
Basically, we could see the end of "Unlimited" Internet if this thing goes through - a lot of little companies lease the bandwidth from Bell and sell it to their customers, and if this goes through, their prices may be forced to rise and Unlimited Internet might not be an option, anymore...
Yeah, isn't it insane?! Yeah this is really bad, I participated in the petition and tried to send other people links to it. I really hope this doesn't go through!
I'm a Canadian and can attest to it being a pain in the ass. It doesn't matter what kind of money you're paying for a deluxe package or whatever, they're still going to bill you.
