Endurance

This is the 130th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Endurance.



Each of my Industrial Hearts starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.

Here is a little bit of the story behind the lady who requested this heart:

So I am a woman pursuing a career in Firefighting. Where I live it is only a small 10% of woman in the departments... plus on top of all this a mother with a young one and another on the way. I was looking for the perfect heart to where as a necklace for a strength and carry on reminder through all of these struggles I am hitting along the way.
